New Solar Power Record in Germany

As reported by the Guardian, German solar panels produced a world record 22 gigawatts of electricity – equal to 20 nuclear power stations at full capacity – through the midday hours of Friday and Saturday, providing nearly 50% of the country’s midday electricity needs on Saturday. Didn’t people use to say that the grid could never stand such a high share of fluctuating renewables?

And not to forget, while generation is going up, prices for new solar PV panels are crashing through the floor, having dropped by about 75% in the last three years.
